Chemistry of Love
Did you know that there is a hormone formula for happiness, satisfaction, and love? The hormones in the formula are:
Endorphins
Dopamine
Serotonin
Oxytocin
These hormones are a group of chemical compounds responsible for emotional well-being. No wonder they say that lovers have chemistry! All our actions, thoughts, feelings, emotions are controlled by the brain. Scientists have studied the levels of hormones that occur when falling in love. They found that the same changes occur in each of our bodies at the molecular level regardless of gender, race, or age. Love is a powerful multi-stage hormonal chemical reaction that impacts all systems of our body.
These substances play an important role in the fight against depression, anxiety, increase activity and motivation. Endorphins are involved in the regulation of excitation and inhibition in the brain, for example, when faced with danger, they put the body on high alert, and after the stress factor is eliminated, they calm the nervous system, bringing it into balance.
These neurotransmitters are closely linked in a complex system of regulation of emotions and physiological processes. If the level of one of them falls, the others also decrease. Let's take a closer look at what functions each of the "hormones of happiness" performs.
Endorphins
Endorphins lead a person to euphoria (a state of bliss), it is also called a "natural drug" or "happiness hormone". Any positive experiences raise the level of endorphins in the blood. The lack of endorphins leads to a depressed mood, fatigue, and apathy, and as a result, leads to depression. Endorphins help us to resist stress, have an analgesic effect, are involved in our thought processes, and the formation of emotions.
If you feel an emotional upsurge, this is attributed to endorphins. They are synthesized in the brain after stimulations like, a workout, sex, delicious food, good movies, or your favorite music. Its deficiency provokes the development of insomnia, nervous disorders, and contributes to the formation of addictions.
Here are some surprising, natural, and safe ways to trigger the release of endorphins into the blood:
1. Chili Peppers: Scientific studies have found them to be endorphin boosters. According to researchers, chili peppers contain a chemical called capsaicin that triggers the pain-relieving, feel-good effect in response to this fiery food’s heat—the hotter the pepper, the better. Researchers say the capsaicin in them is an effective remedy for pain and other medical conditions.
2. Drink Wine: According to research published in the Journal of Neuroscience, legally enjoying a small amount of alcohol, especially wine, at the end of the day can boost endorphins. Both red and white wine contain antioxidants, and red wine contains resveratrol, which has been shown to reduce inflammation, slow the aging process, and protect against arterial damage (Hendrick, 2010; Mayo Clinic, 2011).
3. Sports: Exercise contributes to the release of endorphins. Moderate physical activity can improve your mood and raise self-esteem. "Hormones of happiness" begin to be produced after 30 minutes of exercise. Even a simple walk will lower the level of cortisol and charge you with endorphins. Dancing, running, swimming, tennis, are your allies in the fight against stress. Extreme sports like skydiving, and snowboarding are great ways to make your brain produce massive amounts of endorphins.
4. Sex: The most powerful way to increase endorphins is with sex. A prerequisite for endorphin release is an orgasm. Sex is not only the fastest way to increase the level of endorphins, but also the most enjoyable. You can diversify and enhance results by using sex toys, lubricants, and other stimulants.
5. Music: New experiences, such as going to the theater or to a concert of your favorite artist, also affect the level of endorphins. Music that makes you laugh or cry is a great endorphin stimulant.
6. Chocolate: Consuming chocolate containing 70-85 percent real cocoa in small quantities is also a great source for boosting endorphins. But you should not get carried away consuming too much of it, as this is fraught with negative impacts on both health and your wasteline.
7. Sun: After sunbathing, the level of vitamin D increases, which is involved in the synthesis of endorphins. Ultra Violet light stimulates the release of endorphins, so either visit a tanning salon, or go to the beach to cheer yourself up. Take a stroll on a clear day, or simply let yourself soak up the sun by stepping out onto your balcony.
8. Hobby: Drawing, cooking, sewing, reading books, or watching movies - any hobby that brings you enjoyment will do. Engaging in your favorite hobby helps increase self-confidence, a sense of satisfaction, and reduces anxiety and depression. The release of endorphins plays a significant role in your enjoyment.
9. Nutrition: The lack of vitamins and minerals affects the body's ability to produce hormones. Add antidepressant producing ingredients to your menu: bananas, avocados, almonds and walnuts, berries, dark chocolate, salmon, and spices. Oily sea fish also has a similar effect. It improves our condition due to the content of omega-3 fatty acids.
10. Laughter: When you feel tired and low on energy, find ways to have a good laugh. Watch some good comedy by playing a funny YouTube video, or find humorous memes to laugh at. Communication with funny and touching pets is also a great mood booster and relieves stress.
